The book tells the story of Diomede Leoni, who was neither a nobleman nor an artist, yet who managed to build an extraordinary garden in the Val d'Orcia which he named the Horti Leonini. The fact that he was at Michelangelo's bedside when he died led me to explore the relationship between the two men and the design of the garden.
This blog was created to discuss the issues surrounding the provenance of the garden among other things. Please comment if you feel inspired!
